Default dropping a short shifter in 96 cobra

How easy is this to do?
Do you just have to take of the shift **** and boot? or do you have to drop the whole transmission. Thanks

In mine you just take off the boot and take off four bolts. Didnt have to drop the tranny.

I just did this on my brother's '97. It was totally easy. If you haven't already put the shifter on then I suggest you click this link here http://www.pro50shifters.meridian1.n...re&NID=2884324
That is almost all that you would need to know. The only one problem we had in doing the job was getting the old one's silicone to let loose of the old crap shifter. It took a lot of hammering upwards (while in the car) on the mounting bracket to get it. There wasn't any other part of the process that any layman couldn't pull off... Hope this helps. But if you have already pulled it of then enjoy. It makes such a difference in driving. No more feeling like you are shifting a truck.
