Hello Everyone! I am new to these forums. I just got a 2003 Cobra and I love it!!! Any suggestions on how I can boost the rwhp? Pulley? Chip? I appreceiate any advice.

 

Pulley, custom tune, exhaust, intake. Just to start

 

I saw an episode of horsepower tv last weekend. The project car was an 03 cobra. stock it dynoed at 364rwhp. they used a hypertech programmer and made an additional 43hp. the hypertech is around 350 bucks. they used 2.8 s/c pully which made 12hp and then a 3inch idler pully which added 8. the pully's cost 250 together. You do have to buy a smaller belt though. so thats 427 rwhp with only 600 invested. And it was running completely safe. they weren't going for max hp.

 

That initial run was with the aftermarket pulley installed. I don't ever recall them saying which pulley was used...The car dyno'd extremely low, most likely because it was running dangerously lean.

STOCK, after a good break in, they will dyno over 370+RWHP. Also, if I remember correctly, they didn't use a hypertech programmer. They used another device that you can adjust parameters on the fly.

Ohh man you are in for a hell of a ride...just a simple filter and exhaust will surprise you, a pulley forget about it. As you can see from my sig I have one as well and I love it!

Yellowcobra, Did the catted X pipe make any difference in the sound of your car?

 

Congrats on the new car, it's a car that grows on you. I'm on my 2nd, I had an white 04 that I had to sell last year. The guy that bought it had it dynod & he said it was putting out 381 hp no mods, not bad for stock. I just picked up an 03. 4900 miles totaly stock wich I plan to do some mods on, but first I want to get some baseline dyno # to see what each mod does. I read some where that the 04's had a different tune which gave them a little more hp stock, I don't know if that is true or not as I asked the dealer where I am bringing the car in for some warranty work next week & he said he would look into it.
