I feel like the local speed guru is trying to violate me. I went by his shop yesterday and told him I wanted to get the SCT tune and a smaller pulley for my S.C. He comes back with a quote for $1,100?!

Here is his quote:

Dyno with tuning and SCT software - $750
"ASP" pulley - $120
8 rib belt - $50
2 hours labor - $130

(Laughing all the way to the bank after violating the customer - priceless)


Does anyone know anything about ASP pulleys?
Think this is a good deal / rip off?

Any help would be nice.

Hey myself....here is what I think. I think myself needs to get a quote from someone else then you will know for sure.
Next time don't show up in our office attire. Put some ragged jeans and a old tee on us. Maybe we will get the pitty price.[sm=chattypair.gif]

Get a billetflow pulley. Dyno tuning can be expensive im not sure how ive never had it done. Billetflow pulleys about 125. I got a custom tune on my sct tuner for 369 with two tunes.

Got a quote from another guy. He gave me the same price but I will get a 2.9" Reichard Racing pully instead of the ASP, TR6 plugs that are supposed to "run cooler?", and MAF. In addition to the SCT tune, and dyno tune.


More for the same price.....just as I suspected.

I hope this helps out someone else in my same position.

It's not all that bad of a price. It might be high by a hundred bucks or so, but you don't have a tuner already right? That's why the price is a touch high.

Tuner = atleast 360. My local shop will tune for $150 for however long it takes to get it right with a handheld. Pulleys & Idlers (need'em otherwise you'll be driving home with no blower belt or losing boost) atleast $125 + atleast 45 for a new belt, 2 hours labor sounds about right...

I did a little homework online and like you said after you add labor it seems about right. Also this guy said as I add mods I can call him and he will e-mail me updated tunes for my SCT for the lifetime of my car since I am buying the tuner from him. Cool huh?

i just got a quote the the other day for a bulletflow 2.76 pulley the sct tuner and the tune and a CAI. For 1,100

That sounds like a good deal. It's always wise to get back on the dyno after he e-mails you any updated tunes.

Dyno tuning or just a custom tune on the SCT. Thats seems high to me since i got a pulley, tune, and tuner for 600.

Yea I think I am going to do it.
I feel a little guilty cause the wife and I could prob use the $$ somewhere else. We are not hurting for money so... we won't be broke if I do.
And it IS extra unexpected money and b-day money I will be spending , but still...

Anyone else ever have this feeling spending a chunk of change on your ride?

I thought being grown would be cool.
