The tiksid block that thy put in the 99 and some 01cobras will hod up to 800hp.
I have heard good and bad things about both.

You have that backwards.. The Teksid block they put in the 96-98 cobra's can hold 800+ hp.. reports of over 1000 from some builders.. its one of the most sought after blocks for the 4.6L's.. Its a forged aluminum block from Italy, same place that does many of the lambo and ferrari blocks and some F1 blocks. The blocks int he 99 and 01 are not as durable or tough as the 96-98's.
The draw back on both is they did not put forged rods/pistons in untill 03/04.. so in stock from either will only hold around 400-450hp safely.
The 96-98 is a solid axle setup with a slightly different head (not as well flowing) vs the 99/01 which is an IRS with a slightly better head design, which is where the extra 15hp comes from.
They both will pull almost the same time in the 1/4 stock vs stock.. the 99 and up are heavier due to the IRS..
For a straight line car, the 96-98 is a better choice.. for a track/road course car the IRS is in the 99/01 is a much better choice.. You can build either up to work great for either application.. but just out of the box speaking thats more what they are setup for.

i beg to differ! accourding to shaun highland they put the wot block in the cobra but the block can be identified by the mold markes in the valley. the wot has dimond shaped markes and the teksid block has square block markes. I have a 01cobra with the square blockes in the valey. I didnt notice it until we were talking about it on svtperformance.com and there is alot of other 01 cobra owners also had the square blocks thus proving that shaun highland dont know what he is talking about. And that the teksid block is frequent in the 01 cobra! Also the 01 cobra comes stock with stock internals the piston rods just arent very strong

Some of the 99's and 01's did get the teksid block, but not all of them did. I thought it was just what was left from the original production order from the 96-98's, and that they were pretty rare in both of those years. ALL 96-98's have the teksid block. There was not another block used in them.
