Default 04 Cobra

Would you buy a cobra with 40k on it?? I am totally in love with these cobras and I should have gotten one from the start instead of getting my GT. My GT only has 23k on it plus it is paid for, but I am just a little leary on buying a vehicle with that many k's on it. They want $36k for it. I don't like the price, and I don't think I am gonna do this I just want to know if many people would buy a performance vehicle with that many kilometers on it. There are better deals out there.

The vehicle might have been ridden hard, that is my only problem. If I buy a vehicle the only person baggin it should be me.

What do you guys think??

Tell the dealership to go fly a kite! That's about $8,000 over suggested retail[:-]. The dealership probably gave the person trading it in $21k or $22k.

You know the deal....the infamous dealership tag line, "this car was traded in by an older gentleman who had a birth defect in his right leg that prevented him from giving the car full throttle and it sat in a climate controlled environment all its life (even while being driven)"!?!?

Go private seller if you are going to do it....like you said, there are better deals out there....however, most of them aren't at dealerships. Besides, it's always nice to meet the previous owner and judge for yourself what you think they did with it.

Even with a KB on it... tell that dealership that they don't know their *** from a hole in the ground!! Geez, thats around the original price when they came out[&:]. I bought my 04 Cobra, being held on deposit by a private seller, with 8k miles for $28,000. Not a bad deal. Go check out svtperformance.com and go look in the market section for terminators. I guarantee that you'll find one there that you like and get a much better deal than that one.

If you are really looking I might be selling my 03 10th anniversary Cobra shortly. It has 7400 miles, red and was raced a few times but never on anything but the factory tires. It dynoed at 448 hp with a preditor, cat back, high flow cats, boost a pump, cold air and a 6 pound lower. It also has a Downs shifter and a larger heat exchanger. I'll be looking at around 28,000 for the car.

You should pay anymore than 25k for one, period. You have to remember that whoever owned it beat the **** out of it, regardless of what they say. I will tell you that I have about 48k on mine with no problems and have been pullied since it had about 2k miles on it. So, these motors are built tough and with a safe tune in it, will last. I'd find a private sale if you could, dealers are just *** raping you.

I am in Canada, I checked the prices in the Trader.com...(USA). And holy cow!!! I am gonna buy one from the states and then just bring it over. It would save me a pile of cash. I don't know why cars are soo expensive in Canada. This is Bull$#it, so when I decide to I am gonna buy from the states. Cars are way overrated in Canada.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Yes, 2003/2004 Cobras are going for a premium in Canada. Same with California. Generally, an '03 should fetch in the neighborhood of $25K. An '04 around $27K. Prices go up or down depending on mileage, mods (people usually prefer a virgin/stock Terminator), and the condition of the car. Sometimes a modded Cobra sells more easily IF the buyer happens to want the existing mods. Otherwise you're better paying less for a stocker and doing your own mods. Best advice is to be patient and shop around. Don't jump on the first deal because you'll likely pay more than you should have. Of course if you love a particular Cobra for sale, you might be willing to pay a bit more for that particular car. Especially if the owner knows it. LOL!
