Default Exhaust

I have noticed that the general choice of cat-back systems on the 03-04 Cobras are usually Borla Stingers.I will be looking to add a cat-back soon.

My 01 GT had a Mac Pro-Chamber w/ Magnaflow cat-back. This sounded good, but a little loud at times.

Has anyone had any experience with how loud the Stingers are w/ a factory mid-pipe? The mid-pipe is kind of a gray area when it comes to warranty work, so I will be leaving it on for now.

Thanks for any help.

Well, the Cobra is kind of quiet. I wanted something with a little more bite, but not to overpowering.

I have also been told that I could pick up 20-30 RWHP with just a cat-back on these cars. That and probably a Densecharger will be the first mods I do to the car when I have some funds availiable. [sm=smiley1.gif] After that, I have already priced a pulley and tune combo.

Those few items seem to get a lot of people in the 450hp/450tq range according to some dynos I have seen.

unfortanately, to get your car to 450rwhp+, you will need full exhaust, and that will be LOUD. long tubes, off road mid pipe, magnaflow exhaust. i had that setup on my cobra, and it didnt bother me. it turned heads everywhere.

I doubt if I would ever go any further than a cat-back and midpipe with this car. I think I seen a dyno at another place that gave the guy ~ 410-420RWHP.

He had a Magnaflow X,Magnaflow cat-back, Densecharger intake, 2.8 pulley, and a custom tune. I bet that is a beast to drive.

For me, headers would be too much of a pain to install. Plus I am looking for stuff that I could switch out to stock rather easily if I needed to for some reason.

It's amazing to look at some of the numbers the guys with these cars are putting out.

Todd, i really think you should get lts. it will really open your car up. more so than any other stock car you can get. its worth the investment.

Nomocobra,

One thing that kind of turns me off about headres is that I heard they have to be removed if you ever have to change the starter. I am not completely sure about it, but that would be a major P.I.T.A.

I admit though, nothing sounds like a set of headers. [sm=smiley1.gif]

yah know im not sure. my friend put my headers on, so i wouldnt know. pm nos/man and ask him, he put them on his 99 cobra. but since your car is new, i doubt the starter will fail for quite some time, and not to mention in a bad situation u could roll start it.

Borla Stingers would be best if you HAVE to keep your stock H.

I think that I will be keeping my stock H. I also went with Magnaflow as I have heard my friend's Cobra with Borlas. They sound good, but the stingers are a little too loud. I have had Magnaflow before and liked them.

I was a bit suprised at the #'s my car put down with the stock H, but the tuner said that these cars liked a little more back-pressure as it helped build boost.
