Something sounds broken...
yep mine was doing the same thing. check to see if it has backlash in the rear! Mine came from the track and it became awful when i would take off it would sound like somehting hitting something in the back under the car, Had to get a new r&p
If it sounds like something toward the back of the car, it may be your rear sway bar. Mine cracked at the bend on the passenger's side when I was pulling into a sloped parking lot sideways to avoid rubbig the front facia. I couldn't find out what it was for a couple days afterward.
It sounded like the spring in a diving board after someone jumps off of it. It will not hang down though since they are so stiff.....so give it a yank to check.

I have had sounds like that come from my car before... Once it was the rear sway bar. It would make a loud "popping" type noise when ever the rear end saw some torsion. In other words, when I did some heavy acceleration, but especially when I would turn into a driveway or take a sharp turn... It sounds more to me like your lower control arm has a loose bolt on it. When I had this problem, it was most noted when I went from reverse to forward with a little gas (or vice-versa). The easiest way to check this problem is to just put a wrench on it... the other way to check it would be to raise the car on a hydrolic lift (taking the load off of the rear end) and then yanking on the parts down there... I about forgot... I had another run in with this type of sound. It was just the bracket that the shocks are mounted on. This is most likely not your problem unless you notice the sound when you run over some larger bumps... On a side note, I had driven my car for a while with bad motor mounts (bought the dang thing like that). The only thing that really was noticable with that is that the shifter would jiggle around a bunch... A couple things are for sure. The sound is really annoying, but most likely not that hard or expensive to fix.
yea, my cobra still makes noise. I thought it was the clutch because it only clunked when i shifted gears. But i replaced the clutch and tranny mount/crossmember with a energy one, and i still get the loud clunking every gear change. Between payments and insurence and gas i dont have the $'s to fix it. LOL so its going to make something else break.
