what supercharger
i wanna supercharge my 98 but dont know what to go with: procharger, vortech, or paxton what do yall think is the better one i dont wanna spend more than 4500 for everything. also ive noticed the intercooled ones are a bit more expensive how much of a difference do the intercoolers make performance wise also does it harm my engine not having one.
my friend said he would help me install it but i dont know if wanna go to the trouble not to mention time, how much does a shop usually charge for install.
thanks

Have you looked into getting one of these http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...angcobra46.htm ? This is what I am going to get once I save a little more money... the install is supposed to take about 6 hours. Got tons of torque that comes on at much lower RPMs then the others, less parasitic loss of HP, and doesn't require an intercooler... I know that there aren't a lot of us that have the 96-98 style stangs here that are supercharged, but you can look to those that upgraded the supercharger on thier Terminators with ones from Kenne Bell... Just a thought...
I installed my procharger with the help of a friend. not many seem to use paxton, but if your looking less than 4500 then i'd suggest a non-intercooled vortech, you just cant go above 10 psi boost. But as for intercoolers, they allow for 1) more boost and 2) more timing, which creates more power. In my opinion...if you can find a procharger for a good price, get that, because i think it's prochargers policy to intercool it (there's even more on air-air and air-water intercoolers, but for simplicity/reasons, you just need an air-air).
im going with a procharger, my local pro shop runs vortech KB paxton and procharger and procharger has the best they said. Prochargers oil system is a standalone so if you have a problem it will only be in the blower, nothing else. All the other systems you have to feed a line into your oil pan, plus you will get a bigger add from a procharger. The prochargers have been more reliable and efficient. My kit will be running 8psi and providing 420rwhp stock all day long safely no problems

thanks guys this input is great i deff. think its between a KB and a procharger. one question though can you intercool kb for more power?? thanks

The KB, as I know it and for our year cobras, doesn't have an intercooler available... due to our relatively high compression... Our high compression is a limiting factor (as far as boost is concerned) for all superchargers. They do however have minimal air-temp increase in the boost process, not requiring intercooling at our safe boost level... Now, if you were to go with forged internals and low compression, I would think that you could send them an e-mail with your set up and they could tell you what supercharger/intercooler you could get away with.... Did you check that site out really close? There is a ton of great info there about the questions that you have.... BTW the KB also has an internal oiling system that runs separate from the motor...
