has something to do with the heads and whatever. See the topics about the horsepower difference from94-02 cobras to 03-04 cobras.

I would think that an aluminum block (which 94-98 cobras have i believe) could hold more than an iron block..

..but I dont know an overwhelming lot on this subject so someone please correct me if I'm talking out of my @$$.

question! If somebody were to make a documentary or a movie about muscle cars (Mustangs and other fast fords) completely destroying so-called "supd-up" ricers...would you go see it? more of a documentary then a movie with a story line.

by maintaining correctly i mean checking seals, timing, and all the details everytime. Of course its not common and is HARD to maintain but its possible. Now im not recommending it but they are capable of it. Now you may crack the block on that run for the 1000hp but im saying potential not safety. Safely i would say start building the internals around 600whp

I'd start a new topic for that quesiton.

I wouldnt see it if it was a bunch of ignorant kids bashing every car made in japan. There are PLENTY of finely tuned imports that blow the doors off of mustangs and any kind of muscle car. Its ignorant to think otherwise.

But if it respected the good imports, and trashed on the stock hondas and eclipses etc with a NYC lightshow, an airplane wing on the back, and more stickers than a nascar, then yeah I'd see it.

ecpecially sincetheturbo eclipse put down 225 hp at only 7psi of boost,
with only a few thousand into it they can do 400whp easy
many of stock GT's have been very suprised by these "ricers"
how to tell the difference
stock paint, no body kit, very loud high pitched whoosh whenever the clutch is pushed it
and an exhaust that sounds like a V8

before i sold it my turbo eclipse dynoed at 280whp
too bad it still wasnt a match for my buddyes 02 camaro SS you just cant keep up with 400whp

but the money was needed to restore my 68 stang so bye bye

reliability is an issue with these "imports" when you get into higher hp. Not to say they are alot less reliable than domestics im just going off of personal experience. A guy at our pro shop has a turbo eclipse with a 2.4 or 2.5 (cant remember) stroker engine in it (its a gsx) and it runs 427rwhp but he has had to service the internals more than i can count. Hes blown gasket valves, pistons, and plenty of other things. I was into imports for a while but then saw american cars, you dont hear much of car owners switching to imports

eclipses should be the least of your worries. Silvias, Supras, WRX,etc.. Only problem with the eclipses your referring to is that they crank walk after abotu 100k miles. They guy who had the car didnt know how to properly tune or drive, same with any mustang.

those 06's eclipses I'd watch out for, the 6 cyl MIVEC engine is a WICKID platform to build off of.

also the supra block is one of the only stock blocks known to hold over 1200hp to the crank.
They can defenitely hold their own when it coems to high horsepower.

My buddy has a green 91 GST that runs 11.2 500+ hp never had to change out a damn thing.

but anyway, if we continue this we should open a new topic.
