Turbo 5.0
Car specs below, shows most of my mods, the motor or solid no money spared in building it. Turbo and supercharger. I know this is a real popular question but im looking for people who have either set up to let me know the pros and cons on their car. defiently want to hear in detail if you have a 5 liter. but would like to hear from all of you with these systems. im really a turbo guy but what to hear from owners on what you think. if you have any questions for me about my car id be glad to help...ive done myself 90% of this car, and assisted the guy who helped me do the real internals. keep em running strong!
Personally I'm all for turbo mustangs.
Free energy, and you dont beat the crap out of your engine, those are two damn good reasonsfor me.
The biggest misconception with turbos is that more=better. Which is NOT true. People say "twin turbo this, twin turbo that" but twin turbos are not the "all-powerful gods" of forced induction.
Certain applications pertain to certain things you want to do. A single turbo can spool out just as much power as a twin turbo setup. TT's are great for autocross, but useless for the quartermile and every day streetracing. (unless you drive a supra which would give me a little envy haha)
You can make 800whp+ with a good single turbo, WITHOUT much lag. Which is another misconception..
If your bolting a huge single turbo onto a V4 then yeah, your going to have some turbo lag because the V4 does NOT have enough torque to fly through rpms. but on a V8? You'll find a turbo spools up immensly faster because seriously.. how long do we stay in the 1-3k rpmrange? .. 2 seconds at max.
Everyone seems to think turbo=lag, but they dont do the research on it.
I'm not saying a turbo is BETTER than a s/c. Its all preference really. I just like to clear the air before people are like "omg turbo lag! why bother!" and whatever else.
Also a huge population of mustangs are s/c'ed so its nice to see a turbo stang once in awhile to break up the monotony. =)
Thats my 2 cents.

thanks for the great reply man. defiently agree with you on all points, and my pony will soon be a turbo... now im going to do some research on size and positioning of the system, as well as with who to buy from? if you have any info on that you would defienlty be of huge help to me...thanks!
Check out a Garret T-4 "blowzilla". Should have a decent amount of poundage for what your looking for.
Also AEM makes several computer upgrades youll probably need for your engine. They cost a bit though.
Alot of people positon them alongside the from bumper on the right or left, but its also common to put them at about where your airbox/CAI sits.
As far as piping, intercoolers, blowoff valves, wastegates and all that wonderful stuff, theres so many places I'm not entirely sure, I havent checked into it because a turbo is "next summer" project for me hahaha.

i find turbo's to be a bigger pain in the *** with install and making room for all the other crap haha. yeah theyre nice and all with the free energy but you could get a supercharger thats a turbine that is almost as efficient as a turbo for less money when everything is said and done. i have a vortech on mine and its an awesome setup using optimal space and getting the most out of the boost. i have it tuned to 15psi with better pulleys and im pushing 600hp with around 400 lbs of torque. its really up to personal preference.
s/c's still dont bolt on as much hp as a turbo. Plus you still beat the crap out of your engine after 80k+ miles with one.
Also you still loose that top end no matter how nice the s/c is. I'd rather have my top end speed for highway races.

what im planning of getting is the hp performance turbo kit. its the entire kit with everything i need. its running about 5000 for the kit alone. Seems to be a good deal on such a complete kit. again thanks for all you help italia.
makes more sense to turbo an auto car and s/c a manual. autos dont loose boost eliminating lag and manual supercharged are just awesome, thats just me though. turbo would be fun but how many cars are you goin to run into on the highway willing to race to 160mph?
