Alright I'm thinking of using royal purple in my 97 cobra can anyone tell me of their experiences with it? Is it worth it and should i think about changing the trans and diff oils too?

I use mobil 1 in the engine and I just changed the trans with royal purple max automatic transmission fluid. (97 cobra as well) It seems to shift a little better, nothing monumental though. Sure its better than stock, so I guess its worth it. As far as engine oil, I dont tink its any better than any other synthetic. Stick with something good like mobil 1, quaker state, vavoline, amisol, royal purple, etc and you'll be fine.

I personally use mobil 1 and a K&N filter on my engine because it's readily avaliable in my area, but i do haveroyal purplein my rear end and i'd rather use royal purple than anything if i could find it without having to order it. but its not very hard to change the tranny fluid at all, there's a drain plug on the passenger side of the tranny that you need to undo and drain the fluid, then fill it back up (3 quarts i think??) or until you can feel fluid in the fill hole (which is above the drain plug closer to the body). Most performance people will recommend an automatic tranny fluid because the lubrication properties of it are better, you'll hear a lot of mustang guys running synchromax automatic transmission fluid.

Royal purple is ****. That's allI have in my 97 Cobra. They actually did a test on Horsepower tv and switched all the fluids(tranny, rear end, oil and purple ice coolant additive) and they got a 15 hp gain to the rear wheel.

I have seen the hp test and its pretty amazing that just Royal Purple can up the hp so much, but it did. Royal purple is the way to go.
