My girlfriend bought a 01 cobra at the end of last year when it was still warm. Then winter came and she noticed the car was staying very cool and woundnt build up enough heat to run the heater. So i figured the t-stat was stuck open and flowing to much water so i got and new one and put it on and now it over heatswhen you drive and as soon as you come to a stop it cools down pretty quickly. The fan seems to work fine. I know the t-stat is some what working because when you drive it the heater works so that tells me it's letting water through, is it not letting enough through? Weak water pump?

 

Make sure that you bleed the air out if it, if not it will build steam and run hot all the time, let it warm up and get the thermostat to open then check the water level. \
