ive been having problems with my 99 cobra lately. it will somtimes shut off while im driving. After it does it it will start up and run fine if i let it sit for like 3 or 4 hours. I brought to the dealer to have them look at it. They ran the diagnostics and told me that my car was scanning as a ford galaxy???????? He sais that it could be because the car had a chip installed. I bought it used so im not sure but it is possible. Has anyone ever herd of a chip or tuner doing this to a car?? its really weird and im starting to get frustrated with this car

 

are you saying galaxie as in out of country model or galaxy as in ford from the 60-70s which it could not be as those cars were not chipped

yes I have heard of that problem before. Its EXACTLY why I warn people on here about chips and tuners.

My friend chipped his SS silverado and destroyed it.

Easy fix, its called a new PCM. Done.

 

thats what the dealer sais they will most likely have to do is a new pcm. Im asuming that should fix my problem with the car shutting off too i hope????

 

umm it shutting off doesnt have to do with the tune. Its probably a sensor or something like that. My car used to shut off and it was the fuel pump relay. See if it was the tune then it would shut off on you all the time or just wouldnt start. You would start to see a pattern. If there is no pattern like it shuts off on you after you floor it or something like that then its a sensor. Anyways good luck!
