03 Cobra Pulley Question
What is the smallest size i can go with for my 2003 Cobra. Currently the only mods i have done are cold air intake, and Borla Stinger Cat Back. Would it be possible to put a 2.76 upper pulley on? and if so what is the best lower pulley to go with? I also was told i will need to add a Heat Exchanger and Head Cooling Mod, along with a new Idler. I wanted to kwno what the best type to go with for all of these.
2.76 is the smallest upper currently available. the best combo for a 2.76 is a 2# lower, but it's really not gonna give you too much more by adding the lower without porting the blower. with just the upper you wouldn;t need anyting except an idler, and a heat exchnger is always a good idea but not neccesary. if you go to a port, you need a new maf or mafia, bap, and injectors for sure. with anytning bigger than a 2# lower you need to get a 3.2 alternator pulley as well.
Ok well what if.... What if a new supercharger was put in there, such as a whipple or Kenne Bell. Would the 2.76 still be adequite or is there a smalle one to go with? If i get something now for my car, i want it to hopefully work with future upgrades i have in mind.

Heres what I would suggest, if you can hold out and save up to buy you either a KB or Whipple and not worry about getting a smaller pulley for the Eaton. If you eventually are gonna go twin screw, I wouldn't bother messing with the Eaton right now. My cobra already had a 2.80 pulley on it and was tuned for it so I didn't have to spend any money for that. Regardless, I plan to go whipple so I'm not gonna add anymore mods to the engine until I go twin screw.
Right now I'm getting my suspension beefed up to get rid of that wheel hop that most of us have in the stock terminators. It buys me time to get that fixed so when I do get a Whipple in the next few months... wheel hop will no longer be an issue (hopefully). Just my $0.02.
You can use a 2.76 pulley on your stock Eaton, and while it's not required - if you make any runs over 100mph with that small of a pulley with the stock H/E, you run a good chance of melting a piston or three. Many people never have an issue...but a lot of the early 03 owners who thought they could get away with it found out otherwise...
