03' VS 04'
Hey whats goin on guys, quick question. I am planning on buying a cobra in the next few months and I was wondering if anyone knew the major differences between the 03' and 04' Cobra. Obviously the 03' will be a little cheaper, I have been told to go with the 04' because they fine tuned the motor after throwing the supercharger on in the previous year. If its really worth spending the extra money I'll go with the 04', in addition I kind of want to go with the last year of that body style. Any info would be great, thanks.

Changes were mainly limited to color and trim. New exterior paint offerings for 2004 were Torch Red (re-introduced after being discontinued mid-year on the 2003), Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange. An optional Mystichrome package with an exterior paint treatment that changes color when viewed from different angles was offered for 2004. Inside the Mystichrome Cobra, the leather seat inserts and the steering wheel cover also shift colors. The 2003 radio decks came with an AUX 20 pin port in the back and the '04 had the SAT button. Also for 2004 the cats were bigger. interior wise, the 2004 Charcoal Gray seating added dark gray inserts. 2003's were lighter gray. The computer codes were different between the model years, too.
The 03 Models have had issues with the "head tick" Some early 04 had this as well.

The head tick can be prone to all 03 and 04 Cobras. The real fix was not completed till 05 when they made new heads to address this issue. The tick is caused by warping of the valves and is generally caused by running the car very hard and getting it hot. The cooling through the head was not efficiant and there a few after market companies that have products to fix this issue.
