There are alot of variables in this race.</P>


1. Weight 87 5.0 coupe weighs around 2700lbs 96 Cobra convert weighs around 3565lbs. this is a big weight difference almost 800lbs given that gears are the same and horspower there is a 50hp difference but the lighter weight of the coupemore than negates the hp advantage the cobra has. Advantage here is the coupe.</P>


2. If the race is from a dead dig both being 5 speeds with good sticky tires and equal drivers ( which is never the case on the street ) the coupe will cut a better 60 ft time, 1/8 time and the 1/4 will be owned by the coupe but you will notice at the end of the quarter the cobra willl be pulling back on him. Remember this both cars have 300ft pounds of torque Advantage here is the coupe.</P>


3. If the race is from a roll it will be no contest from anywhere above speeds of 50mph on up. Advantage Cobra it will walk of and leave the coupe which is a brick in the wind at higher speeds but a beast down low.</P>

I would take the coupe and stomp that snake(both cars on slicks). Its all in the driver. HE WOULD BE CATCHING ME BUT HE WOULDNT CATCH ME.

 

Like mentioned earlier.... if both cars hook and have equal talent drivers. The Fox should get the 60ft time and the 1/8th. The Cobra should win the race.... but you'll have to reel him in. But so many variables are involved... condition of the fox, driver, tires etc. Who knows...... my money in a 1/4 or more is the Cobra.</P>
