2001 Cobra Steering Pop
I have been looking seriously into getting a 01 Cobra w/34k on it. It has Cobra R wheels on it and i noticed while pulling a sharp u-turn to the right that it kinda pops when turned all the way. It doesnt do it to the left though. The guy took the car to get looked at and said they said the wheels are too big and that is what causing it. I did notice some rubbing in the wheel well (sp?), but still dont understand compeltly how it would cause it to pop? Does it sound legit? The carfax is clean and it was never wrecked as far as i know.[/align]
I've got a 97 cobra with type R rims. Really wide rubbers too. My car never has done the pop. But it does rub when doing tight turns like turning around in the parking lot or something. It's kind of a harsh sounding grind.. Not something that you wanna hear coming from your car haha
I have the same set up (2001 Cobra with 2000 R Rims and tires). I have never experienced the pop and have been driving the car for 6 years (29,000 miles on her). The wheels rub a bit but I almost never cut the wheel all the way to save the power steering pump (was told that puts a lot of stress on it). I think those are best rims Ford ever put on a Cobra!
