Default 99 cobra recall

im considering buying a 1999 cobra or a 2000 gt for decent prices. I have noticed that 1/4 mile times for the cobra are listed as 13.9 and the gt's are 14.1, was wondering if the 1/4 mile time for the cobra is before or after the recall repairs? will the cobra 13.4-5's after the repairs or 13.9 accurate. if it is accurate i will just purchase the gt and save some money.

thanks for any help

What I want to know is where this magical track is at? That car manufacturers test the vehicles. Needless to say my 99 Cobra wasn't a 13.9 ET stock 1/4 mile runner. after about 1500 dollars in performance parts....i was able to get it down to 14.4ish. But I do live over a mile high in altitude. so usually knock off .5 second for about sea level,. and even then i'd have been right at the "stock" et according to Ford. As for mustang GTs the new edge GTs i have never seen go low 14s where i am at. Fastest one i know of is SC'd and runs about where a Terminator does in this alt. 12.8-13.3 As for stock or with exhaust and head light pulled out GT fastest time i have seen is 14.7s But for the most part they hover around the 15.1-15.5 s marks

its not about whether or not an average driver can run those times, its the fact that they are both rated so close in the 0-60 and 1/4 performancewise. but thank you for the more accurate numbers.

Are the '01 Cobras about a 14 second car too?[&o]

Also, the 4v engine is better than the 2v engine. If the price difference isn't too much I'd go with the Cobra.

The Cobra pulls hard on the top end that is why the GT is so close. Look at the trap speed and that will show that theyare capable of 13.50. Now the Tracktimes posted are from when they had the recall and the 99 is identical ( Motor ) to the 01 which runs 13.40 or something. 13.90 before the "FIX" and 13.50'ish after. I putABorla exhaust and a tune and it laid down 301 and 304. Also the Cobra IRS is hard to launch and the Cobra is a littleheavier than a GT.
With what I have done my first time ever to the track I ran 13.90 @ 103 with a horrible 60' of 2.30. LB for LB the Cobra is a better car all around.

the 01 cobra is rated as faster than 99, which was why i was wondering if that was because the 99 was tested before the recall repairs were made.

if the price were close, i would go for the cobra, but the gt is almost 4000 cheaper.

thank you for the help so far

Ahnial8u, thank you. just what i wanted to hear. i knew it was the same block and everything, but that was what confused me, why the they were both, the 01 and the 99 rated at such different performance levels.

"13.90 before the "FIX" and 13.50'ish after."

thats more than enough to convince me to go 4v.

thank you all.
