Pretty new to the cobra's asI know very little. I'm trying to do some research on the difference's on the older ones vs. the newer ones. I really dont care to much about the newest body still all that much. Really leaning towards the 01-04 body style though. Anyone has some good info or links to some stuff I could read about I would really appritiate it. Thanks gang!

 

99 & 01 cobras are pretty much the same thing. N/A 281ci, 32 valve, DOHC (2 cams per head)
03 & 04 cobras are pretty much the same thing. S/C 281ci, 32 valve, DOHC (2 cams per head), roots style blower
any questions? Go for the 03 or 04 cobra


Also the 03& 04 cobras have built motors. Pulley swap, bolt ons=close to 500rwhp

 

The block in the Terminator (03-04) is cast and can handle lots more hp, where as the older models are aluminum and are limited.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. If you're looking for pure hp and can afford it, definately go with the Terminator. If you don't have the bucks, go with an '01 and do your own mods.

99 - 320hp/317trq n/a 4.6L
00 - 385hp/385trq n/a 5.4L only 300 made, all in red, side exhaust exit, etc, etc
01 - 320hp/317trq n/a 4.6L
02 - all went to mexico
03/04 - 390hp/(385trq i think) s/c 4.6L

..basically...

Actually the 2002 Cobra all went to Austrailia - not mexico.

 

If your wallet can handle it I recommend the 03-04 cobra. Very nice.......and fast.

 

Weren't the IRS upgraded for the 03/04 as well?

 

dont know but the IRS on that still sucks. With stage 5 half shafts it is better. Ill let you guys know how much better after the 24th of Aug when my buddy takes his cobra to the track.
