Default Recall question

I recently purchased my 1999 cobra from a guy who was the second owner. He wasn't sure if the car went back to ford for the recall. Is there any way I can find out?

you didn't do a carfax obviously. Bad idea on a private party purchase. [&:]

Not necessarily. I went to a Ford dealership and they were not able to find out. I later called SVT and gave them my VIN number and even they weren't able to tell me - I received conflicting answers. Later, I determined it hadn't had the recall because at only 26k miles - it had 252 rwhp stock. The chance of something else wrong with the car causing that low horsepower result is slim to none...and slim just left town.

My 99 Cobra has a sticker with handwriting on the plastic radiator shroud on the top of the engine. The sticker says that the factory mod has been done. If you don't have the sticker, then I suspect that the recall/ mod wasn't done yet.

I called my local Ford dealer and gave them my vin number and they checked it out, and told me mine had the recall work performed on it. You can try that route, but obviously all Ford dealerships are not the same.
