Default 96 SVT cobra (help)

Hey guys, I dont know a whole lot about mustangs since ive owned a subaru for awhile. BUT, subaru is being sold and i found a mint condition 1996 SVT cobra for sale for $8995. It has 93k on it but has pretty much been babied. He only drives it 3-4 months out fo the year and it has never seen snow. Now it has a couple little extras such as a new stage 3 clutch flywheel full exhaust and the list goes on. Now i was wondering, for $8995 is it worth the buy for a 1996 SVT cobra with no problems and recipts of all the maintnence?

Off the top of my head it sounds kinda high to me, but I'm not sure. My old '01 GT was only worth $7000 (bluebook value)when I sold it with 110k milesin awesome shape. He might be trying to get money back from the performance parts he put in it. I wouldn't pay him for them unless they are pretty extensive.I would only offerbluebook value for it (if it is less than what he wants).

He has a good bit into it... it might be a little bit high... I know they gave my moms bf 5k for his 96 Cobra that didn't even really run at the dealership and didn't build any money back into the deal- it would stall out 10 seconds after start if you weren't moving... I would offer him 7500, and maybe leave it at that... I mean "excellent" KBB pricing has it at $7,285.00... If you feel it's excellant, and it has those mods, and you feel like it's a good buy then do it. I mean it's probably a 12 second car with that gear, mods and suspension built. If you can get traction that thing will fly. But also beware, a 4.30 gear and those suspension modification probably means it was driven hard.. not babied. If you really are interested in the car, I would definatly make sure the engine is in top shape.

FYI.... a Cobra will always have higher resale then a GT. Less of a supply, and more of a demand. What you paid or sold your GT for means nothing when in terms of the Cobra.

Don't put too much worth in aftermarket parts. I sold my 97 Cobra for $8400 with around 70,000 miles to give you an idea of market place yield. Good luck whatever you decide.

not putting everything into the aftermarket parts, BUT, this is really the only cobra i can find around me cheap enough for me to afford...i have a 9,000dollar budget and i cant find an 01 for that price. Now with that said this is the cheapest ive found one close to me...but im going to try to talk him down to 7500/8000 range

I dont know where you found a 96-98 cobra for 5k, maybe a 94 or 95, but generally they go for 8-10k

He's got a good mod list going. I'd try to talk him down because of the milage but if it has been maintained well and babied then it should be a strong runner for a long time to come...
