i'm gonna physically measure my rim when i get a change to verify its 8". my 275's fit no problem, they don't even buldge at all.

OK, a fat chick might 'fit' into spandex, butthat doesnt mean itsa good idea.Thetires may'fit', but it is TOO much for an 8" rim. when you inflate them, they will hump a little bit in the center, and will handle like crap. You will probably get better traction out of a 255 tire on an 8" rim than you will out of a 275 on the same.

A275 tire wants a 9" rim and 10.5" for a 315.

i disagree. my stock 8 in rims fit 275's just fine. yes they stuck out a little, but it did not sacrifice in handling at all, and i got much better traction on the dragstrip with them. and 9 inch rims fit 315 tires too. u dont need 10.5 in rims

I didn't have to use spacers, but I did have to do the IRS bolt kit and I can barely fit a sheet of paper between the tire and IRS bolt. Maybe my offset is different then stock.

Default RE: stock wheel size?

hi guys,
I worked for discount tire company for 6 years. I've worked on all types of applications on mustangs from 17 to 20 inch. the 03 and 04 cobras are the only mustangs to have 17x9 inch from the factory with 275/40/17. 99 to 01 came with the same size as all the gt's 17x8 with a 245/45/17. you can run 275/40/17 on the 8 inch rims but the tires will wear in the center faster. the nittos run small, so do the sumitomo's. 315's will fit on the 03 and 04's but the same problem with the 275's on the 8's. I now have an 04 cobra with the factory size but before that I had an 02 gt where I ran 17x9 - 275/40/17 and 17x 10.5 -315/35/17 it set the car off. I was pleased. If anyone has any questions about what fits on what year id be happpy to help you out.
