Default hello

I have saleen body kit 373 gear bassani x-pipe no cat, borla mufflers, bbk throttle body,Diablo chip dyno tuned, pro MAF,K & N air filter. just bought pirelli Rosso tires 255/ 35/18 front and 265/35/18 rear also lowered with steeda springs with steeda tri axe short throw shifter. I was thinking about changing the mufflers and adding headers any suggestion with out it getting to loud for cops? I was also thinking about going with a MM coilover kit what do you think?

Depends on the mufflers and if you have cats or not. Resonator style mufflers w/o cats will wake up the dead, I recommend cats w/ resonators. It'll be loud regardless.

First off, why not tell us what kinda car you have also? It says Cobra, but which type... they all sound different.

How bad are the cops around you? If they are bad about noise, go with a midpipe with a high flow cat. That's going to still get you most of the performance increase of an aftermarket midpipe (the difference in no cats vs a high flow cat is really only a few HP, anything is better than the crappy stock pipe). Also, after that you can get chambered or straight through mufflers. A catted midpipe with a chambered muffler would be a pretty quiet setup, but it would still sound better and flow a lot better than stock.

It's up to you, but I remember when I put my exhaust on my GT. The O/R prochamber is quieter than an O/R X or an H (but it sounds a lot better too ), but paired with the Mac chambered mufflers, I thought it was pretty loud when I first put it on. For a week or two I was worried to be too noisy in neighborhoods or around areas where cops may be, but over time I got used to it and it's just not all that loud. Once I got my Cobra with it's exhaust, it makes my GT sound stock again, and just yesterday I drove past a cop pretty loud, not fast, but high RPMs in first, and he didn't do a thing. Generally you can just keep your foot out of the throttle around a cop and it's not going to be loud enough to make most care. If you want something that will sound good and can get loud enough, but is unlikely to get you in trouble, I do still love the O/R Prochamber + Mac catback setup. It'd be louder on a Cobra too than it is on my GT. I'm considering doing that to my Cobra in the future but I haven't decided yet.

How are the cops well it depends on the cops attitude I suppose. I was driving to school one day and a cop in front of me was trying to pick up these girls in a car , but then when he got shot down and i was driving about 3 car lengths behind him he slammed on his brakes crossed over 3 lanes and pulled me over. He even looked under my car to see if I had catts on my car or not. Luckily for me when he wrote the ticket he put faultycatts and all I did was put my stock ones back on and drive to police station. So know I dont want to take that chance of driving by a non cool cop who doesnt look twice at harley motorcyle that is probably twice as loud as me. Please dont get me wrong the police have a hard enough job putting their life on the line every day and I love harley motorcyles but I dont we should be punished for trying to express ourselves with a little loud exhaust. what do you think?

thats quite a story. Im having a hard time visualizing it, but thats beside the point.

How about a full Bassani setup, from Mid-length headersto Catted X, and use your Borla. It'll still be loud, but not obnoxious. Keep the rev's down when your going through towns/residential neighborhoods where the cops really would care.

I was debating going with a coil-over setup. decided against it because I do plan on adding a blower at some point, and I dont like the idea of putting the extra stress on the shock towers and not being able to tie them together with a brace.

I don't know about all that "expressing myself" stuff... I just think it sounds awesome. Unlike asian weedwacker engines.

sure everything you do to your ride is a form of self expression. because building a car up is a art form. Hence a way to express yourself. You are what you drive.
