Default Car washes?

Here's a somewhat stupid question... I just bought a '99 Cobra Convertible and am wondering how safe it is to take through automated car washes? I've never owned a convertible before so I'm questioning how tough and watertight the top is. Also, do you take yours through both touchless and brush-style washes? Thanks from a newbie.

I would never take my car through automatic idk if it would do anything but i wouldnt take the risk, its a hardtop but im worried about swirls and scratches, also automatic carwashes never seem to get all the soap off, i just use a bay and bring my own stuff

Even if it is touchless as I have gone thru a2 andeach time it leaked from top of the front windows.
Dont do it.
I will brush mine at the carwash but make sure to hose down the bristles pretty good.

I hope not, because the only thing I use the brushed for are to clean my tires and wheels and the lower rockers on my truck! I cannot believe people scrub their whole car with them....YIKES...
ALSO, brush auto carwashes are terrible. Especially in winter when they freeze up and the dirt gets trapsed in them, besides the ice scratches anyways!
PRESSURE car washes use high pressure and HEAT. Hot water and especially that Hot Wax that you pay $2 extra for strips all of that Carnuba wax you spent apllying for 2 hours. They both strip the paint of all that stuff. Now, hot water is no where near as bad as the was substance they use, but anytime hot water is used isn't good for your wax.

If I take my car to the wash and spray it I will not even use the brush for my wheels(don't wanna scrath those puppies)..lol I usually wash by hand most of the time which is like 3 times a year. I only drive it on nice days and never in the rain and I cover it up when I put it up for the night so it stays pretty clean.

I'm going to freeze my a** off handwashing my car in the middle of winter but I guess it's worth it.
