Default Oil

Okay I just changed the oil today and since I've only changed the oil once on my Cobra, I was used to grabbing the 5w-30 that my GT used to take. I didn't realize what I did until I filled all 6 quarts up and put the cap on that said 5w-20; then it hit me. Will I see a difference in how the car runs w/ 5w-30 instead of the 5w-20 that it usually takes? It seemed okay but it could be in my head that it's running sluggish. Any input?

Oh and BTW the car will be taken in for Dyno Tuning @ Alternative Auto (www.alternativeauto.com) next Tuesday @ 9AM so I'll let you guys know how it does...

i would call Lidio from alt. auto and ask him what he thinks. either that or just be on the safe side and change the oil again back to the 5w-20. he really knows what hes talking about with the ford modulars.

5w-20 is ridiculous. It's like water in your engine at higher temperatures. They do it for EPA regulations and so the engine can flow more oil to the top of the motor faster and to squeeze between the tighter tolerances in the bearings. You don't need to cram a thinner oil inside bearings faster if you put a heavier weight oil in ther that stayed put in the first place...lol 5w-30 is hardly a difference from 5w-20 and you will be just fine. I would never run 5w-20 in my car even if they demanded it. No wonder why cobra's get their "head tick". I wouldn't however run 10w-30 as it could be a little thick for your needs
Also, synthetic fluid is generally a thinner oil by weight than conventional so you will be fine.
