Default Rods and Pistons

well...I took my car to a shop today for the final verdict of the motor noise and they think its a rod bearing....thankfully the rod hasnt broken and shot thru my block. What would be the best rods and diamond cut pistons I could go with?...has to be diamond cut though or could someone explain what the difference in cuts mean?

thanks,
Matt

could not tell you on the diamond cut thing. but what are you plans for the car FI or NA, if you plan on going FI you could get the right pistons and stuf f in now. I know i am going with CP 17cc dished pistons. Oliver rods are supposed to be about as good as they come.

ok, so Oliver rods....but im planning on eventually going FI but its gonna be like 2 or more years due to college expenses. It already is "supposed to" have all the supporting mods for FI cause it was blown before I bought it.

usually the pistons for FI motors are different than those for na aplications. i think it is done that way to change compression ratios at least to some extent.

I would guess $8,000.00 at least for a decent cobra engine.

thats a lot heftier price than under $2000 for the motor work now....plus adding a KB blower to my current setup will hopefully push it over 500rwhp.

thanks for the info and help.

You can buy 03-04 cobra rods crank and pistons for under 2 grand. They are really strong. They were just able to withstand 40 something lbs of boost and almost 1200rwhp in a recent mustang mag. Pretty crazzyyy with a stock termi bottom end wow!!!

all about how you use it though. mine gave out at just 522rwhp the pistons are the weak link and the heaton is not their friend.
