'97 cobra mods and tips
i am farely new to the cobra world and i want to add some mods to make it sound a little more "mean" and add some hp. i love the way my car ('97 cobra) sounds already and it is delightfully fast, but i have been really getting into the whole "cobra phase" or just racing in specific pretty hard in the last few months. i'm just curious as to what mods you would recommend right out of the gate being a new cobra owner and the specific brands/types. also, any kind of tuning or simple tips that will help increase performance and durability for my ride would be great. all replies are greatly appreciated, thanks!!
mmmmmm 97 lol
well heres what i did to my 97...
1. changed out the exhaust bbk headers, h-pipe, and flowmaster 40 series mufflers.
2. wms cold air intake
3. bbk dual 65mm throttle body
4. mgw short-throw shifter
5. I went with eibach suspension... pro-kit lowering springs (1.5 inch), shocks, and anti-roll kit and i am happy with them but, if i had the money to do it again i would go with h&r springs.
my next thing is wheels/tires(not sure what im gonna get yet)
id like to get some kind of a programmer/tuner but i really dont kno a lot about them yet, so i cant help ya there.
Pretty much it all comes down to how much money are you willing to spend on your car. Id love to have the money to make my car sick nasty but, there are other things that have to come first in my life.

I wouldn't waste any money on a t/b or shorty headers. I would go with some high flow cats(if you need them to pass emissions) if not get an o/r midpipe either h or x. Their pretty much the same as far as performance. High flow cats are hardly a loss. Like 2-3hp topps. LT headers are a big bonus! they are a b.tch toinstall because the bolts are so hard to get to unless you frop your k-member ahich isn't hard if you do suspension at the same time! Gears, gears, gears for the 4v motors. I have 3:73's put in when I had my non-pi 2v and they were great. I did a 4v swap and my car feels like a dog off the line from what it was. Cruising is 2600rpms at 80mph. I want to put in 4:10;s which will put me about 2900rpms at 80mph. You are prob at 2350rpms at 80mph with 3:27's???? A custom tune will add about 15hp to your whip. If you hit the roads, the only thing I can say is get suspension works done. You can't add power and not have the suspension to control it! Get some crossdrilled and slotted rotors and lower it 1.5" up front and 1" out back and you'll be surprised how much better it handles. It will feel faster too because you'll have more feel of the road.
I have BBK ceramic coated LT headers, BBK O/R H-pipe, Magnapacks catback, 3:73 gears, cai, custom SCT tune.
