we have the kenne bell chip which was tuned with all of the car info. we're using 94 octane. we haven't called kenne bell yet, we want to go over everything first. can the plugs cause engine lag ??

Yes and no. they can be getting blown out does it only do it under WOT. I had the same problem with the lag but then i put motorcraft plugs in it and it dissapeared that and i turned my boost a pump down.

OK man heres what you do. KB can only do so much of a tune for your car without seieng it and dynoing it. I had a custom mail order tune from a very reputable company but when I put it on my vorteched 98 it was really, really lean and making low numbers. Tell your friend he needs to take his car to a good tuner and have them dyno tune it. I know that might not be the cheapest way but he will be very glad with the results. I went from a custom mail order tune with a lean a/f raito and making 330 rwhp to a dynotune with good a/f ratio and 380 rwhp just by having the guy at the dyno change a few things in matter of minutes.

Thanks for the input. Should we get the car dynoed and send the sheet and chip to kenne bell for a retuneor get an xcal and tune from someone local ?

In my opinion id ditch the kb chip. Whatever place you have it dynod at will be a sponsor of a tuner company. They can either burn you a custom chip or sell you a handheld. if you have the money go handheld. Let me know the results and all man.

We turned down the boost-a-pump to 10% and the car runs much better. But sometimes when we let off the throttle and then stomp on it real quick it backfires. But if we accelerate gradually its ok. what do you guys think ?????

Try turning it down a bit more and see if that solves the problem. It seems like ur air fuel mixture still isnt right.

Are you using the chip from kenne bell.
Even still, you have other mods like headers that can and will affect air/fuel as well. You really need a dyno tune for a custom tune to properly set it up!
