ok so hears the Problem.
I start the car and it turns over fine but then it idles really low and loppy. Im not sure what it is but theres an odd smell coming from the back exhaust and the check engine light came on tonight. Any idea what could be goin on?

 

first thing!! take it to a shop to check what code the computer is throwing. THAT IS ALWAYS THE FIRST STEP. once u find out the code, let us know so that we can further assist u...

do that asap...

so many things can make it idle poorly, ranging from a messed up spark plug, to a broken injector...

 

What do you think Ford will charge to check the code for me?

 

probably... are there any autozones or checkers (kragen) auto parts near u? they will check it for free. most shops will check it for free, but a dealership will most likely charge u...

 

how much? tough to say. dealerships are usually rip offs..... did this happen all of the sudden, or after a full throttle pull?

I do drive it a little hard but now that i think about it today is the first day i have used the AC since the snow stopped and it warmed up.
