So im in the market for a 03-04 cobra. havent found one yet, but i did have a guy offer me an 03 saleen with 46k miles for 24k. What are the differences between the two. I know the saleen has different body kit and not supercharged..what else?

 

First of all, confirm it is a genuine Saleen and go from there. The odds are the Cobra has more power and faster. The Saleen will probably handle better but you are paying for a body kitand some exclusivity evenif it isn't S/C'd.

if its not supercharged i wouldnt pay any more then 15 for it with those kind of milage

 

The cobra is 4V(plus supercharger)and the saleen is 2V

 

ding ding ding... not only is the Cobra faster then any Saleen (minus the S281 extreme) out of the box... it has more modifying capabilities then them also... If it's not a blown Saleen I wouldn't even waste my time on it...

The non-supercharged Saleen is just a body kit and suspension I believe.. I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole... you can always buy a 2003 GT for like 12k, put 2k into it and dust the saleen.

 

skip the sallen even if it is the SC version. it is a 2 valve motor and not forged as far as i know. the cobra has way more potential.

 

What kinda hp numbers does a 03 saleen put down?

 

Only the S281Extreme has a built motor...

 

2003 S281 SC 375 HP
2003 S281 Extreme 440 HP

Note: those aren't Cobra numbers....they actually dyno with the 15% or so tranny loss. Not like the Cobra's rated at 390 HP out-of-the box....but dyno'ing at 370-ish HP [:-]

 

i use to be into saleens, saleens are nice but are only gt's with nice boltons. some with superchargers, most with aerodynamics, suspension, and saleen badging everywhere. while saleen has a really high reputation they are really overpriced. i bought a 03 cobra and love it to death. go with a 03-04cobra.
