I was wondering what kind of times my cobra should run. Mods are in sig everything was installed and tuned atDynospeed Racingand it put down around 320 rwhp.

I have a 89 trans am GTA 350stock motorwith just exhaust and Drag radials that walked all over this thing.TheGTA should be putting down around 240-250RWHP and325-335 torque.First racing was from a stop the TA just hooks and leaves me(of course spinning) the drag radials, then from a 10mph roll and again the TA just leaves me, then from 25 at first the TA leaves me but I start catching up. I have a neighbor with a paved landing strip in the back field of his house where we tried all of this. I have yet to take it to the track.

I know I should be allot faster then this. I think maybe I dont know how to drive it right. The GTA runs 8.8-9.0's in the 1/8th with 2.0 60ft's at 77-78 mph. What should the Cobra be running?

 

I dont know bout 1/8 mile but in a 1/4 mile it should hit 13.8 bone stock, perfect driver and track conditions.

 

The GTA runs that now, so the cobra should be faster. I guess I will just have to learn how to drive. So with the mods I should be at least in the 12's, right?

 

with the gears and tires you have - a good driver should be able to muster a 12 second time slip... but those wheels are probably hurting you...

 

i have a 01 cobra with 322 rwhp and 321 tq runningg with 3.73 gears and 285 nitto Dr's and i ran a 12.8 at 105mph....you should be around there too

 

What rpm do you launch at. I just spin to much now. But I have some slicks at the house I have sitting around but I think they are to tall. They are 15x10.5x28 so they might not fit.

 

What drag radials do you have? I had 315 nittos on my 500rwhp Cobra and I didn't slip at all... are you heating them properly? You shouldn't reallly need slicks for 320 some odd hp

 

they are nittos dont remember the exact size but they are wore out. I need to get some new ones. To heat up the tires I just do a burn out till I see smoke then feather it out.

 

I am surprised you can't get traction with them... I had bald 315's at one point, so bad the metal was showing and still managed a 1.8xx with my Cobra...
