Ok I have a 96 cobra that last week I had my guy at ford fix part of the intake manifold that needed fix. That there took care of the problem of my car wanting to shut down when I was rolling to a stop. Also he fixed the A/C unit. Hehad to relace some hoses and that took care of some of the idol problems. But I still have the problem that when I come to a stop or start up my car that it wants to hang up at 2000 rpms. Then after 10 seconds or so it will drop back down. Does anyone have any i deas?

timing may be off, does it like surge? or just stay at a steady 2k?

 

Try cleaning the IAC (google for instructions), or if you have a wet filter (like a K&N) you might try cleaning your MAF. Also most 4v's hate aftermarket throttle bodies, so if you have one good luck.

 

im having the same problem!!! i tried to clean the IAC but that didnt work, are you getting a trouble code???

 

I ve cleaned the IAC, the throttle body is the orginal. I am getting 2 different codes one is IMRC stock closed the other one iam not sure ill have to look at it again. but IMRC as far as iknow couldn't be stock closed. It could be the timing i think that it might just sure up to 2k and then it comes down.
