Unhappy Car wont start

Hey guys just needed some opinions on why my 01 cobra wont start. It happened all of a sudden. I went out to start it and the car does turn and starts for a split second then dies. I would try to start again and put more gas into it and let it rev for a couple seconds , but as soon as I let go of the gas it would just stop. Anyone have a possible idea as to why this car wont start? Could it be anything with the fuel or the spark plugs? Please help b/c this is a daily driver and it sucks not being able to drive anywhere

I believe autozone lets you test your battery, alternator, and starter for free. I would start there.

if its restarting fine then the battery isnt dieing, what you need to do is hook a fuel pressure gauge up to it start it let it run watch fuel pressure if it fades before the car dies u need a pump and filter, always start with the basics air fuel and spark, now if the battery was dieing then yes its a different story

It could be your catalytic converter. I had it happen to one of my cars. It rusted out and a flat piece would move into place and close the flow of exhaust and then cause the engine to stall out. I could usually get it started, but would never stay started.

Well i dont think it could be the cat converter b/c it is a new xpipe exhaust system. I also just put a new battery in. I will try to see if it is the fuel pump and filter.

sounds like an iac( idle air control motor), if you can keep the car running with your foot on the gas. i have had several vehicles do this. if it was a fuel pressure issue you generally shouldnt be able to rev it up. a fuel filter would present other symptoms long before what you are describing. and as far as the battery, starter, and alternator, if it starts and runs with your foot on the gas, all is ok there.

you could pull the iac out and clean it, also you can try tapping on it lightly to see if your idle jumps around as you tap it if thats what the problem is
