Will a x-pipe from a 2001 gt fit my 97 cobra or is there a difference between the sn-95 and the new edge models

It should work fine. The only time you would run into a problem would be trying to use an older mid-pipe on a 03/04 since the position of the O2 sensors changed.

AFAIK any mid-pipe from 96-02 will fit/is interchangable. This applies for both 4V's and 2V's. The only difference being the 1996-1998 mid-pipes had hangers after the cross-over which can be cut off for use on a '99 or later car. The hangers aren't really needed if you are using a mid-pipe without them since it is supported more than enough by the manifolds and cat-back. My MAC O/R H came off of a 1998 GT and it fits fine on my 1999 Cobra.

2V sn95 o/r H pipes DONT fit on 4V sn95's though. i had a 96GT midpipe, and it wouldnt fit on my 97 cobra. the crossover was in the way of one of the brackets on the frame.

so a h-pipe from a 99-04 GT will fit a 2001 cobra?, does it sound better? than the x-pipe?

I think someone sold you something differ than what they told you.. 4v and
2v does not matter regarding the mid pipe only the headers.. Look at everyones product its either 96-98 or 99-04 there is no valve issue..

99-04 cobra, mach 1, and gt x and h pipes will fit one another. i put a pypes o/r x pipe off an 04 gt stang on my 03 cobra with no probs. the only thing is that 04's require o2 sensor extensions. as for the sound, i like the sound of an x over and h pipe, but that is my opinion.
