Default Traction control

I have an 04 Termi, don't race or post much, but had a GTO messing with me the other day. We were rolling at about 40, I dropped into 3rd and had him by the time I needed 5th. I had traction control on and as I decelerated to around 20 and went to turn into a parking lot it felt as if traction control was still try to compensate for something. Hard to describe, sort of like a jerking. I would have turned it off if the guy hadn't caught me by suprise. I've heard that you should turn it off, but also if you do you could bend an axle. Thoughts?

1. Whats done to your car?
2. You should have beat him by couple of cars (I have with the 3 GTO's I raced)
3. Why would you race with traction control on?

Nothing serious. JLT intake, MAC Prochamber, Bassani catback. I don't know the guy and no idea what he had.
We had to end it because of a red light.
The guy pulled up beside me and took off before I knew what was going on, had me by a length before I knew he was there.
I guess my question is do I stand more of a chance of bending an axle if I leave a light at WOT with traction off, or is that BS?

I would hope to god that you aren't launching your car if you don't have a IRS brace.

Bend an axle...no. Destroy a half-shaft....yes.
