Default Dyno tune..

so i definitely need a dyno tune, even if i buy a tuner, do most tuners require you to have an SCT or other handheld tuner or will they do it directly? (dumb question i know) because i dont want to waste money on a tuner if the case is the ladder,

Yes you need a handheld. Either SCT or Diablo. I wanna say about 85% of shops prefer the SCT. Call up your tuner and ask him which one he prefers to use. Also most shops will cut you a deal if you buy the sct from them and get a dyno tune.

...Get a SCT tuner (I have Xcal2)...I found a shop about 3 hours from my house for a dyno/tuning session, MustangMagic, hope to get there in April!

You need it so your tuner can store your tune on it. This way if you get a tack & street tune you can switch between tunes whenever you want.

id rather just get one mild tune, not aggressive or safe, somewhere in the middle, dont plan on doing pullley swaps for racing right now, i wanna go for a mild setup 400-450rwhp is fine, thats why id rather not buy a hand held tuner if there is any way around it

I think SCT does sell a chip! best to check there web site! ...if you do not want a hand held tuner, but trust me, Xcal2 is nice! ...can change your gear ratio, tire size with the hand held tuner as well....plus tweek tune a little (2-3%)

+1 I believe you can also check codes and turn off your O2 sensors. Beleive you want one. They have the xcal 3 out now. Its supposed to be better then the xcal 2.

Xcal3 had some bugs when they first came out, but I'm sure that's all fixed by now! ...I think the 3 can hold more tunes and has bigger screen!
