Default Cams

question # 1How hard is it to install a new set of cams, with new springs, retainers, the works?

im think something like these

http://www.lethalperformance.com/03-...4-cobra-p-1141

Not going to do anything immediately just trying to figure out what direction I want to go with the car, dont say, if you dont know how dont do it, I'll have some friends help me I am going to do EVERYTHING to the car myself,

question #2 are cams worth doing if im not going to build the entire motor? i know the gains wont be near what i could get from a twin screw but I really love everything about a car with a nice set of cams

its a PITA, just removing the valve covers is pretty tricky and time consuming.

either way your going to end up pulling the motor off the mounts, i'd suggest just lifting it out the car all together.

I'd say its worth it, so go for it. You won't get the full benefit from them untill you go twin screw or atleast a PP eaton, but you will deff notice a power increase. Nothing more fun then having a bunch of friends help lol it will be a good time.

You don't have to pull the motor off the mounts, and definately not out of the car, although it makes it a lot easier.

I'm in the middle of doing it right now. Whether or not you can do it depends on your mechanical ability. Are you comfortable with timing a DOHC engine? How about degreeing the cams?

As long as the hydro-boost and master cylinder are out of the way the valve cover comes off quite nicely. You can even sneak it by the clutch cable if you're good.

If you can get the rear valve cover off of a 4.6 Northstar in a Cadillac DTS, you can get the valve cover off anything, lol.

It is much easier to remove the engine and swap the cams that way.

Try working at a ****ing Cadillac dealer. They pack them in tighter and tighter every year. You can get the valve covers off in the car, but the motor has to come out to do a head gasket.
