Hey guys. Im most likely going to buy a 97 black cobra coupe with 67,000 miles on it for 9k this summer. really excited to get rid of my V6. Are there any things i need to look out for or replace? I know my 3.8L inside and out but im just gettin warmed up to these 32v 4.6's

it'll be my second car after owning my slug, but still very good looking v6, so im a V8 newbie :]

Ok, first of all good choice, i just picked up my 97 cobra for 7800 with a fully rebuilt motor bored .30 over, all lifters gaskets and seals were done, the guy also put in a New T-45 trans because the synchros were shot, so you have to punch it in first and slam second and if it grinds with your foot to the floor and the clutch was fully engaged, it needs new synchros in the trans...my car also has a spec stage 2 clutch, again something to make sure works right...and it has a 4:10 rear, i am telling you this because i think you can beat the guy down more, again mine is a 97 cobra black on black fully rebuilt motor with 1500 miles on it, 78k orig on the body....so see if you can beat him up...

Things to look for, when you start up the car check to see if any blue smoke comes out fo the exhaust in a quick burst..if so its burning oil and needs new gaskets and probably was beat...check the tranny when you powershift like i said., listen for any tapping knocking, ticking, things like that, ask about the regular maintenance he did...what octane he ran for gas...also see how well the motor does pulling to 7 grand a few times....other than that the things that go on that car are minor...headlights haze etc....also ask if he has ever done coil packs and plugs...those make it run like crap....but other than that i went through 4 mustangs to get to this one and i have never been so happy..the power the looks and respect you get is amazing for a 12 yr old car...good luck dude

thanks alot man. yea, im excited for the attention ill be getting from it haha.I wont be able to get it till mid summer, but i want to be totally prepared for what to look out for. Being a 19 year old college student with a sick black cobra will kick ***. How are the supension on these cobras? Anything different? as opposed to the GT's. Cuz i know my convertible v6 has SO much body roll and sway to it its not even funny, so im hopin the cobra will feel a ton better

The cobra will be better but alot of room for improvement. I just got done doing alot of suspension work to my car. It now hugs to the road real well and has no body roll. The full length subframes help so much.
