Default 97 cobra engine specs

I was wondering if anybody knows the specs to the 97 Cobra 4.6 32V engine. Does it use any forged internals? How much boost is safe for the bottom end on these engines?

I've heard the same thing... But I've also heard it has forged connecting rods, but not forged pistons. Also I know that you can get a 5.0 or 5.1 stroker kit but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do you know of a company that makes the rotating assembly?

Only the crankshaft is forged. I was told that it is critical to make certain that they get enough fuel to run more than 7 lbs. of boost and rods and pistons should be forged for more than that. With rods being the weakest link.

Here is a dyno run from February:

More info: Stock exhaust manifolds, Vortech V-1 w/ 3.48" pulley, 42 lb injectors and lightning MAF.

I agree, it would be dumb to push more than 7 lbs. of boost w/out forged rods and pistons. At least I got the forged crank! That's some good news anyway...

That's why I'm interested in the 5.1 stroker kit with all forged internals. Then port the heads and put some hot cams in it, eventually supercharging it. It will be unstoppable.
