Default coolant choice for cobra

2001 cobra... I know the car has an aluminum block. What someone told me is that regular green fluid has sugar in it and can corrode the block or some parts in there. I am just trying to figure out what kinda fluid do people put in their 01-04 cobras. Should i keep using regular fluid or change to that "special" non sugar fluid. I am about to do a system flush that's why Im asking

Thanks,
Lex

I use the prestone extended life. Its the orange color. best you can get for our cars. unless you start to add additives. all other colors are spcifically ment for those cars.

Whoever told you it has sugar in it is nobody you need to be listening to. If you're in a hot climate run distilled water and water wetter. If you're in a colder climate use a 70/30 mix of distilled water/coolant...and water wetter. Don't use RP Purple Ice...it foams really bad with cavitation from the water pump. If really want the good stuff (and expensive), use Evans NPG+ waterless coolant. That stuff won't boil until like 370 degrees and can do wonders for holding off detonation.

My father has worked for Prestone for over 31 years. He is the supervisor in charge of blending/plant. Prestone extended life orange is the exact same formula as Prestone extended life yellow. The only difference is extended life orange is dyed orange for GM. He also blends Ford GO5 (Premium Gold), which is a Hybrid forumal for FORD. He suggest to keep using the Ford Antifreeze. However if you want to use Prestone you need to complete flush out the old Ford and then add Prestone Yellow or Orange. It does not matter. Prestone Antifreeze is an organic acid antifreeze and Ford is a organic/silicate hybrid antifreeze. As for sugar, their is no sugar in antifreeze.
