13.26 @ 106?????
My '97 Cobra has tranny problems so I won't be trying to duplicate the above time anytime soon but...
My neighbor's buddy has a stock '97 and the owner claims no mods. He's the original owner and it has around 90,000. He took it to FIR last week and after his first run (ever of any kind) he ran a 14.20. His best was a 13.26 at 106. I really didn't believe it until he showed me the timeslips.
Again, he's claiming no mods. I figured it was a 13 sec car, but 13.26? Is it just me or does that sound pretty quick for a non-modded '97?

that is quick, are you l ike -1000 feet under sea level? lol.
A few things could have happened here.
The timers could have been off at the track, which isn't exactly common but it does happen.
Your friend has the fastest 97 cobra in the world (stock) but i doubt it, sounds more like timer being off since his first run was a 14.2.
he might have gears or something and was just feeling out the track his first run. Did you make sure the car numbers on the timeslip all matched?
Either way thats a pretty high trap with a stock cobra i've seen cars run 12.8s with a 106 trap, which i don't see any stock 96-98 cobra doing, somethings not right.
If he can do it consistantly the cars that fast, if most of his runs were high 13s/low 14s and he ripped ONE 13.2 i say thats the timer being off or hes got a hidden bottle of nitrous lol.

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing. I didn't grill the guy too much and ask for proof but it just sounded a little too good to be true. He said that the 14.2 was his very first run... ever.... as in his entire life not just this car. From there, his next run was 13.5 and his best was 13.26. It was obvious that I was sceptical but I wasn't about to call him a liar or anything. No obvious mods that I could see (or hear to be more exact). He also claimed to get 24 MPG so maybe he just likes to stretch the truth a bit!

if hes running mid-low 13s consistantly he could have gears, you can't exactly see gears, the only way to check is driveshaft rotation vs wheel rotation, every 1 turn of the wheel the driveshaft will turn: 3.27 times with stock gears and so on 3:73 with 3.73s and 4.1 with 4.10s.
That's true.... But if he had gears, he would not be getting decent gas mileage. I'm pretty sure I've got 3.73's or better and I only get 13-14 MPG in the city and I drive very conservatively. I guess the bottom line is, he could be BS'ing me... although I don't really see the point. I'm going to the same track on Friday and we'll see how my '94 does. I may come back with some crazy good ET's as well!

I find it hard to believe he went 13.2 with a stock Cobra. I went 13.19 with 4.30's My engine is a stock 97 Cobra with simple bolt on's. But than again I know I need a driver mod so I guess it could happen.
and FYI I have gotten 24mpg with the 4.30's in the car only because I was driving through Indiana and the speed limits where I was traveling was 55 and 65 so it is possible
