Default basic upgrades for an 03 cobra??

Hey, im brand new to this forum and brand new to mustangs aswell. LS1s i know well but i have no idea where to start with a 4.6. As of right now im stuck in iraq until december but just closed the deal on an 03 cobra and could use some help with some basic upgrades to get me movin.

The cobra already has a oversized pulley and borla exhaust (i think) and from what my dad told me was putting down about 425 at the dyno, but other mods are unknown to me anybody have some info for me to get started?

Thanks
SS

if the car already has a smaller puller and a catback on it then you are off to a good start. If it has those pieces i guess i would be looking at things like the cold air intake, mid- pipe and upgrading the idler pulleys. Billet flow makes a great set of pulleys. I have always been a fan of the JLT CAI since it it functional and looks clean uder the hood.

why not an o/r x pipe to go with that borla instead
as for jlt =/ i know tim loves them and so did i for about a month. bad fit
single blade tb, roots type blowers are very sensitive to intake restrictions.

X-pipes CAN go well with a chambered muffler, however, having had both chambered mufflers, non chambered, and X and H pipes, H pipes with Stingers(My Current Setup) is much louder than any x-pipe/stinger setup I have heard, and is a lot deeper.

OP- I'd get a BF 2.76 Pulley kit, with 4 idlers, a Gatorback belt, Intake and tune. That alone should put you around 430-440 RWHP. Adding a mid-pipe should give you at least 10 more RWHP. So, all in all, you should end up with 450 RWHP, and at least 460 RWTQ.

2.8 Pulley's usually make more HP than TQ. 2.76 Pulley's will most likely make more TQ than HP, but still make just and much HP and a 2.8 or even a 2.93 Pulley. Just depends on how much boost you want to run, and what kind of power you are looking for. Also, congrats on the new Cobra. You are going to absolutely love it!

Stingers are Straight-Through based, but are still Chambered style mufflers.

From what I can gather on the technical side.

JLT CAI FTW. I have had them on all my cars and I have NEVER seen a poor fitting one. If you had a "bad" one im sure JLT would do what it takes to make it right with you AND they will paint match it to your car!!!

With some small upgrades you can make 450 - 465 RWHP without a problem!

GL and thank you for serving us!!!
