Default Clutch info?

Hey all I posted this in the "general tech" forum but I think it should have went here. Sorry about that. Still new to the forums

Anyways just picked a 2003 Cobra. I have a nasty vibration in my clutch pedal. I can only assume it's the pressure plate. Today it had a horrible rattle, like really horrible, like stuff banging around that shouldn't be as I would start to engage the clutch.

Prior to this I would sometimes have problems shifting into 1st and reverse and sometimes it would shift very easily. I'm pretty positive I need to replace the clutch & Flywheel, which I'm sure it needs anyways. So a couple questions...

-Do the 03 Cobras have T-56 trannys?

-What's the spline count; 26 or 10?

What parts should I order to make sure this gets done right the first time? Clutch kit, flywheel, clutch cable.... Anything else I need and what else would be recommended since I'm doing this work anyway, new shifter or something?

I won't say money is no object since I'm far from rich but I'm willing to pay whatever i need to to get the job right with some quality (fun) parts.

P.S. Any suggestions if I might have another problem would be well noted also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The factory tranny is a T-56. The input shaft is 10 spline and the flywheel is 8 bolt. I recommend a complete flywheel clutch kit and a adjustable clutch cable. All this stuff is available on ebay.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking at and the centerforce aluminum flywheel.

I wanted to recommend a dual friction clutch but they are kinda spendy. I had a spec 2 clutch and disliked it so much I bought a new clutch after about 4k miles. I went to a McLeod twin friction clutch and LOVE it. All the new powerful cars with manuals come with twin discs from the factory.

I originally looked at the spec 2 but after reading up on it seems the majority of the people that have it hated it. Seems like the Centerforce is the way to go.

Although I did read a tech article a while back and they were installing a diffirent brand clutch with a centerforce flywheel and it seemed like a nice combo despite not matching. Been digging around trying to find the article to see exactly what it was.

I spoke too soon. Here is the tech article I read.

It is actually a centerforce clutch, but they went with a RPS cyn-r-g flywheel. Seems a bit on the pricey side for a flywheel but if anyone can vouch for this set up over a centerforce aluminum fw I might just go for it.

I have a Spec Stage 1 on my 5.0, and it's great, but I have no input about the Stage 2 or higher. Centriforce makes some pretty good clutches though.

Also If your want to ge the best shifter on planet MGW I have had it since alsmot day one of my Cobra. Its fully adjustable and will barely every mis a shift again. And yes Centerfoce dual friction is the best.
