Default Buying a 03/04 Cobra. Need help

I've been looking at a few of them and know a lot about the cars, just have never owned one.

Is there anything I should be aware of with these cars as far as common problems go and how they can be prevented and what maintenance needs to be done.

Also would staying away from cars that have been heavily modified, pullied etc... be a smart decision.

Any info on them would be great guys. Thanks!

be careful with the 03's they are known for the head tick from improper cooling to the rear cylinders...so look for ones that have the head cooling mod to solve that problem...also it doesnt really matter if its modded these cars are so incredibly strong you just need to find something that did it all with care...its really no diff then any other car

How easy is the mod to perform yourself if would get an 03?

Also how does the maintenance on the blower work? Is it more or less just like an oil change for the car type of schedule?

its very easy if you can change your spark plugs then you can do the mod...they come with instructions too...if the motor is already ticking then stay away the mod is just to prevent the tick

maintenance is very minimal your supposed to change the oil like every 25-50k...

Is the tick only in idle or is it audible throughout the entire power band?
I just know these cars are either beaten to sh*t or taken care of. It seems like there is no in between.

you should be able to hear it at idle along with slowly reving it just listen for a tick tick tick its not gonna be loud just something that sounds outta place...if you find someone who is really passionate about the car and can just ramble on then i would trust it...you almost gotta feel out there personality as much as the car

now dont get me wrong these cars are strong as hell...if it looks beat then it is if it looks good then its prolly good...if they care about the paint then they care about the motor and care to not throw tire shreds all over there bumper lol

EXACTLY. I feel like you can tell everything from the paint condition and pictures people post more or less. If they look like the outside is taken care of more then likely everything else will be too.

Head ticks aren't always noticeable from up top over the engine; the injector noise will sometimes mask a minor tick. Listen for it from the drivers side wheel well. If you have a mod inventory and the asking price, we can help you make sure you're getting a good deal.
