Default Speedo to Slow

Hello all
I have a 1999 Cobra that has custom wheels and Goodrich 18 inch tires.
The speedo is 13/14 mph SLOW..
Other than the dealer is there any other way to correct the error?
Does this slow speedo effect other functions of the cars computer?
Thanks for the help .
I have only owned her 1 week and 1 trip averaged only 18 mpg with no frogging her ,car only has 54,000 miles on her and a coolair filter stock gearing.
Thanks for any help.

I also just bought a 01 Cobra and have a similar issue because of my 4.10 gears. Here this might help you out. http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-s...tool-9410.html

Default slow speedo

Thanks for the reply.
Do you guys think I should buy a hand held tuner like hyperjet?
Reading that I can fix the speedo issue and tune ( flash the computer)
Is this the right thing to do ?
Thanks again for the help

Just spend the extra cash on a good tuner instead of that recalibration junk. SCT/diablos are probably the most popular models, ive never even heard of hyperjet.

Not bad, $65 is much better than taking the hit on a tuner, especially if you dont plan to heavily mod it you wont need the handheld tuner.

Yes I did,, Checked many places and estimates first. I guess Sales are down at Ford and they are pushing service they wanted $ 140.00 just to recalibrate the speedo.
Took it to the Car Dr. and they tuned because I had installed cold air system and a few other mods they adjusted the speedo to bring it up right, took them two tries on speedo and a little over an hour for all. Glad there are still some honest people out there..check arround before you try.
