Default help modding stock cobra

My buddy just picked up an '03 last summer, it's bone stock except for a steeda catback. Now he's got about 2k to play with. it's gonna be a driven car a lot, on the street a bit, at the dragstrip a few times, and maybe around a road course if he gets the chance, because of all that he's decided on keeping the irs. some parts he knows he wants are a irs bushing set, irs brace, some maintenance(new plugs, all fluids, filters, etc) and he needs tires so gonna pick up a set of dr's. after all that I figure he'll have about 500 left to play with, whats the best things to do to these cars? I keep thinking pulley/tune/or midpipe, but not sure if he can do all that for the price. what all is needed when doing a pulley swap, and how small can he go? will a 2.8 slip? does he need bigger idlers or will a shorter belt be enough. any input is appreciated, thanks fellas!

I would do some pulleys and a tune, and im sure he will be satisfied from just that. If you already have an exhaust on there thatll help out as well while getting it tuned.

Pulleys and tune are really the way to go.. 2.8 is no joke, he'll be making some serious power with that with a good dyno tune. It would be a good idea to change the main idler pulley to keep it from slipping.. He'll be looking at about $200-$300 for a blower pulley, idler oulley, and bracket and belt... Another $100 for a custom tune (if he has a tuner already).. That right there will easily push him into the high 400RWHP..

First thing he needs to do is bushings especially if he plans on road racing or drag racing it. I would recommend the full tilt boogie kit but that alone will run him 700 if he doesn't want to spend that much go with atleast the diff and sub frame bushings. A brace is good but the lpw or fore diff cover is much better and also more money. I would look for a used blower pulley and a snub Idler pulley the one right under the blower pulley.

That's what he's getting is the boogie kit. Seems super expensive but gotta pay to play I guess lol. I'll try talking him into a pulley/tune first with the rest of his money.
