Default possibly buying cobra..?

Hey guys, i may be in the market for a 94-04 cobra and was wondering if before i buy another car if there is anything i need to know about these cobras, for example: problems, best years (i know 03-04 because of power), but im also looking at how the car will respond to mods. Im also looking to put down about 500+ hp/ torque at the wheels.

What should i expect to pay on each year for a car in good condition and under 20k miles? ..low milage is a must for me as im planning to keep my GT i have now and the cobra as long as possible. Thanks guys, any info about this is game!

(sorry if this sounded stupid, im having a hard time explaining what i mean haha)

CA is quite expensive.. I live in New York and am looking at a yellow 2003 supercharged Cobra convert (6 speed), black leather int. with 4,000 miles on it and its selling for $19k. I think that price is amazing to be honest

Hey bud, here's my perhaps limited knowledge on Cobra model issues...

The 99 was recalled, something with the exhaust I think, that kept it from hitting the rated HP. So if you happen to go for a 99 keep that in mind and do what you have to do to make sure it was fixed.

The 01 was pretty solid I think, I owned one and don't recall reading about any standard or expected issues with it.

The 03 I think had a head 'tick' issue. I'm not sure what the cause was, but look into that if you go for an 03.

The 03/04 both suffer wheel hop issues that can easily crack the rear diff. One of the first standard mods most folks recommend is an IRS brace to strengthen it and prevent said cracking on wheel hop. Better tires and some suspension mods may help reduce the wheel hop as well.

That's all I can think of... Good luck!

Great info! I knew the 99 was recalled due to the hp issue, and i knew about the 04 wheel hop. If anything im trying to get about 6000 dollars or so saved so it looks better when i try to get the car loan. Im at about 3,000 saved now. I really want to get a terminator so bad !

Terminator or BUST!!

Personally, I never let the wheel hop issue bother me!! At the track, with a bias ply tire like a ET Street, wheel hop is a none issue!! The head tick issue was found to be in both the 03 & 04 Cobra's...once again, I wouldn't worry too much about that at this point!

Good luck!
