Default First up P0171 code pulled. Check engine light on.

Hopefully just an O2 sensor. Going to get over to exhaust shop and put it up in the air and see what the exhaust looks like. I had the original owner put the cats back on. I think there are Flowmasters as well. Should know by Wednesday.

Are you sure the sensor's faulty? If it's detecting a lean condition, it might actually be running lean.

I would start by cleaning the MAF and looking over the vacuum lines. You should also consider the fuel filter. Exhaust is further down the diagnosis list, but since it's been touched before, I can understand why you'd be suspicious of a leak...

It very well could be. When I went to drive the car for the first time he had no cats on it and the engine light never came on. I had him put on back the old system with cats and when I went back to pick it up, the engine light was on. He said he thought it needed an 02 sensor before I got the code pulled. I will try a step at a time.

Took your advice about cleaning the MAF, after five stores I could not find the torx bit T20H anywhere with the safety on it. No problems on a regular T20 but none with the opening on the bottom. Went to PepBoys, Advanced, Lowes, Home Depot and Sears.

I'm shocked; someone's got to have 'em! Do you have a Harbor Freight close by? They're sure to have a set.

They are called security or tamper proof Torx bits. Sears will have them if no one else does. They are usually sold in cheap/inexpensive bit kits like this one.

I will check again. I realized they were called tamper proof after I got home. The guy at Sears called them safety proof.

Thanks.
