Default Wheel Lug Nuts

I've seen a few discussions on lug nut size - just wanted to see if the consensus was 13/16" (20.6375 mm) or 21 mm. I might be imagining things, but it seems like the US based manufacturers use a mix of SAE and SI bolts and nuts, which makes it a bit frustrating for those who do any kind of wrenching on their own cars. SAE/SI sizing probably doesn't make a difference for the lower torque fasteners, but we need an exact fit for anything critical that requires a high torque value to keep them from falling off while driving.

High torque value? Lugs only go on at 100 ft-lbs...

My factory ones are those chrome covered lugs, heat and rust, under the
cover, they bulge, then don't fit in the lug wrench. I had the same issue
with my former Charger, so I got the solid lugs, not the covered ones. The
front driver side ones bulged out so much, I needed a larger socket for them.
SO, on eBay, I got all new SOLID lugs, doing the same for the Mustang.

Also, the SIZE thing:

Turns out neither 13/16" or 21mm fit (21 mm fit but seemed a bit loose). The lug nut tool in the trunk worked fine. Maybe I should take a caliper to that thing.

I ordered a set of SOLID lug nuts. You see that lug nut on the far right, of the picture
for the video? That is what they look like under the cover, or as they call it, cosmetic sleeve.

I bought these:

I bought the same thing when I had my Charger, and they worked perfectly. You'll never
have to worry about a socket not fitting, they won't bulge out from the heat and rust.

Does anyone read the owners manual?

As per the owners manual...Page 270
Bolt Size = M14 x 1.5
lb-ft (Nm) = 150 lb.ft (204 Nm)

*Torque specifications are for nut and bolt threads free of dirt and rust. Use only Ford recommended replacement fasteners. Retighten the lug nuts to the specified torque within 100 miles (160 kilometers) after any wheel disturbance (such as tire rotation, changing a flat tire, wheel removal).

Yeah. I originally followed this thread from "new posts" so I didn't see that until afterward.....so I edited it to clarify the S197 spec. and where the 100 lb-ft comes from
