I put the dyno video up because thats one of two videos of the car that I have. That's a video I have of it on a Mustang Dyno to show you the numbers from January. Right now the dash is out while we're putting the new one in and redoing the much better styled interior than your Neon.

That 300ZX can hit really low 10's consistently and if we boost higher we can hit high 9's. The problem is, higher boost will give us a lot more power and that doesn't help on road courses. The car is built for road courses but that doesn't stop it from laying waste to many cars in a straight line. I hope we do meet one day. I'll tell you your car is fast for what it is and then I'll give you a camera so I finally know what it looks like to people who are losing.

I've easily got 500lbs more than you, but that's not going to help you.

Another ricer youtube racer. I'm done with you. I just dont have the energy to deal with another kid that runs 9s but doesn't have a single timeslip. You kids are all the same.

You are so funny with your ricer comment considering your engine was built on rice concepts (small displacement boosted engines). Next time it sees a 1/4 mile I'll be sure to post a copy of the time slip for you, unless of course I make it up to NJ and it's you in the other lane.

Like I said this car sees more road courses than straight lines because it's built to handle, not designed to be a rocket ship in a straight line. But again I'll be sure to let you know when we're heading to one

And as far as counting me in the youtube ricer kids column (even though this build is far superior to all of the other Asian cars "ricer kids" have), SRT4 owners are the biggest group of douchebag youtube racers I've met. So I guess at this point we'll never be friends

So back on topic, sorry for hijacking this thread, someone is a little touchy about there cars status in the world of cars.

Like I said at the beginning, practice launching without smoking your wheels for 100'. Unless hes modded since then, you should be able to get him. Those cars with a boost controller, intercooler, and some moderate tuning can be wicked fast. Judging by his maturity level, I'm guessing hes mostly stock with maybe an intake and exhaust. I don't know what his drive line loss is, also was it a dynojet or mustang dyno? DO you know what his mods are?

Have you ever actually raced on a road course? Ever?

And as far as the "rice concept" engine....maybe you should sling that comment at the Brabham-BMW "retards" who built the M12/13 turbocharged 1.5L FOUR CYLINDER Formula 1 engine that made 1,300hp. And that was over 20 years ago.

I am well aware of BMW and other German engines (and I knew someone would say something about it) I've owned 3 VWs, two of which fit that small displacement category.

My old roommate also races 3 series BMWs and I am fully aware of their superiority to most Asian engines. Asian cars were by no means the first to boost a small engine, but it is most commonly associated with them (even though many European car manufactures utilize forced induction).

No I have not raced in an actual race with other drivers, only time attack and open drives. The 300ZX was parked for almost a year while it was being taken apart, since the engine got completed and tuned, it hasn't been tagged for the road yet. Like I said, the interior is being redone because our (project car for my brother and I) goal is to have a very fast car capable of handling very tough road courses and still have AC and a leather interior (the previous interior was the faded leather from 1994). We have achieved our goals, putting out more HP than we aimed to have and more than that car can use in a road course. Which is why there is a boost controller and a fuel tune switch. 93 octane is fine for road courses because that car not being GT or F1 class, more than 600HP is too much. When we need more power (for a 1/4) we have the 109 tune. The car has not seen a 1/4 since that tune. Based on a similar 300ZX build that was boosting slightly less than us and with an auto (we have a 5 spd), hes doing 10.32, we expect to do better and with wider tires, since its easy to smoke them with this set up. On 93, we can easily smoke the tires at every shift and the wheels break free when the boost kicks in at 20% throttle, we haven't taken it on a WOT run on the road because it would just melt the tires down. At speeds over 100mph we can easily break free just by blipping the throttle. Honestly, its not the safest feeling in the world, which is why we are still working on the suspension and the aerodynamics. A newer and higher down force spoiler is planned to keep it planted while on the move. The suspension stock, was stiff but we wanted more. Everything has been upgraded except the struts and shocks, as well as adding a bushing kit which helped greatly. Now we have a problem with wheel hop under hard acceleration (I'm sure some of you with FI V8s know what I am talking about). We are also looking in to a StopTech brake kit, since the new numbers put a massive strain on the old brakes. This stage of the build has a lot complete, now we need make it safer.

The next time we head to the track is actually to stage a race between my friends built and stripped 69 SS Camaro. That was our last planned run on a 1/4 mile. We prefer turns to straights, and outside of proving to our friends what the car can do against American Muscle, we didn't plan on hitting a strip often.

Now that we are all discussing what I am doing, does any one else have anything useful to add to the OPs thread? Maybe something helpful?

LOL it breaks the tire free at over a 100 miles an hour. That's to funny. Be careful you don't go backwards in time.

Blue, next time we take the car out I'll be sure to shoot a video just for you. I'm sorry your car doesn't make enough power to do that.

That's what happens when you use two large turbo's, let me know when you can fit those in your car. On 93, the car makes over 630 at the wheels (Mustang Dyno correction factored). Anyone else here with a car making that at the wheels want to chime in with their experience? Our biggest issue is the rear end is too light and tires too small. With that kind of HP on demand (turbos spool early and keep pulling through the entire range, redline is 8k) and a light rear end, its a recipe for disaster. You not being RWD, I don't expect you to understand.

Do you have any other questions, or just statements?

Just a couple more. What kinda times do you run again? Are you serious? Your talking about rear wheel drive like it's a detriment. Any your also talking like nobody on here knows anything about turbos. Two turbo are no better than one. You can only move so many volumes of air thru a motor at 22psi. Then your talking about running 9s in one sentance but your next sentance your saying the car is nearly uncontrollable. An uncontrollable car doesn't run 9s it runs 13s. Your talking about not being able to handle the car at 100mph. How do you expect to get off the line in under 3 seconds? Keep typing all that BS and I'll keep punching holes in your story. You've made it pretty clear you know absolutely nothing about drag racing. But keep typing. I'm at work right now and have nothing better to do than read your BS!

Jcon, please stfu. This isn't youtube, man. BB has ACTAUL time slips and can back up what he claims, unlike you at the moment. Come back and run your mouth when you can back up what you're saying.

In regards to those saying that the SRT-4 is unreliable, do some research. IF you have actually seen one blow, it was due to pushing some serious power. They are built from the factory. Talk about looks and interior quality all you want, but those things are subjective and don't have a damn thing to do with what the car will or will not do. Personally, I think they look pretty sick, and the interior is typical of most American cars under $30k.

I'll gladly continue since you clearly don't understand me. The car is capable of 10's with the previous Pirelli's that were on it. With the dual fuel pump set up we can boost to 28PSI without blowing up the motor, and that will get the car in the the 9's. Which has already been done with a similar build. RWD is an advantage if you know how to keep it on the ground. If you can't then yes, it is a detriment

When we last drove the car in February, we could easily break free over 100mph with the tires warmed up, on a track with better tires and prep, there is much better grip and of course launching the car right helps. Taking the Z in a straight line when the turbo's kick in and when shifting is fun to deal with at the very least. That is why larger tires than what we have now are needed as well as more down force on the back. Practicing the launch is essential, but I thought that was understood. I've already said I'm not big in to drag racing, but it doesn't mean I won't be there to do it once in a while.

I am speaking like you don't know turbo's because if you knew anything about 300ZX's you wouldn't be saying what you are. The engine is designed to run twin turbos, each bank of cylinders as well as each half of the engine is treated like a single engine on it's own. Two turbos on this car are better than one (and these two are better than most everyone elses one), there are also two throttle bodies to go with it.

For the final time, the car with the tires that were on it at the time we took it out on a country road, was hard to control when under high accelerating. To correct this we are goign to do several things. First add a better spoiler so we can control downforce (stock one isn't useful anymore), second, we must unfortunately remove the Hicas to fit the largest tires possible on the rear, third we will have to roll the fenders to fit said tires.

It currently has a new set of BF Goodrich G Force TA 225/55 16's. They were the only thing available in town when we needed them so the softer wider tires had to wait. I don't have to tell you those are some tiny tires. But they were used for the new engine break in and dyno tests.

I didn't say we could consistently hit just over 10 but if we hit a strip more often and practiced launching the car, then yes we could. As far as striaght line performance, I am more interested in the Paxton Mile and that's how I've driven the car when I needed to launch it. Until we can finish the rear end mods we've got some work to get it to do 10's safely. When I say it is hard to control, I don't mean taking the whole road to correct, I mean a variance of 3-4' from center. Forgive me if I expect a car under WOT to stay straight, but that's what we are building for.
